The federal election campaign is officially underway in the Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa riding and some candidates have wasted no time in getting their messages out.

Independent candidate and former Member of Parliament Inky Mark was the first to issue a statement Sunday.

He denounced the nearly 80-day campaign and called on voters to vote-out “Dictator Harper”.

Green Party candidate Kate Storey kicked off her campaign in Grandview on Sunday as well and said she’s ready to take on the longer campaign.

Incumbent Conservative Robert Sopuck and Liberal candidate Ray Piche both took to Twitter over the weekend, while nothing has come from the NDP’s Laverne Lewycky since Sunday’s election call.
