The Town of Swan River is butting heads with its Public Works Department on how best to deal with the broken section of Main Street on the westbound lanes near Peavey Mart. Mayor and council have instructed Superintendant Derek Poole to have the area repaved as soon as possible, before the Swan Valley greets visitors for the PowerSmart Manitoba Summer Games. However, Poole says that paving the section too quickly, before traffic compounds the base, will lead to a significant bump that will have to be repaired again in the future. Poole was instructed to price out the cost of repaving, and present his findings to council.
